Breath of Fire III – An Epic RPG Classic

Breath of Fire III is the third installment of the classic Breath of Fire series, and also the first to be released for the Sony PlayStation console. It was developed, and published by Capcom in 1997. This game is an turn based RPG genre. The graphics in the game is a mix of the old style 2D mixed with 3D. Like most RPG's the elements within this game is a fantasy world, with magic, swords, and monsters. It features a unique cast of characters, each with their own abilities.

In Breath of Fire III, we follow the plot of a young blue haired boy named Ryu. He is the sole survivor of a mysterious, and powerful race called the Dragon Clan. They are people who possess the ability to morph into dragons. In the beginning of the game, Ryu wakes up in his dragon form, deep within an mining cave. He is soon discovered by miners, and in result, he is in captivity. He later escapes, turning back to his normal human form. He is soon meets, and became fast friends with a duo of poor thieves. One is a teenage tiger-human hybrid named Rei, and the other is a young, headstrong boy, named Teepo. With meeting them, Ryu finds himself learning how to fight, and then ends up in a shuffle of fighting various monsters, helping innocent people in trouble and brush with very unfriendly people. This would lead up to him to be separated from his two friends, and embark into an journey in searching for them.

During his search he meets, and gains allies including – a rebellious, yet brave princess named Nina, a quirky rabbit eared female inventor named Momo, a mutated onion-like creature named Peco, and an powerful, gargoyle-like warrior, named Garr. With their help, the young Ryu overcomes terrible foes, solving complicated situations, and also learning to morph into various forms of dragons- big, and small. During his long trek, he matures into a powerful warrior, even then he continues to search for his friends, and while at it he learns more about himself, and the mystic dragon bloodline that courses through his veins.

This game is not very popular but in my opinion, it is one of the most unique games I have ever played. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys an fantasy type games.
